When integrating a new application with your BetterCloud instance, the overall installation process is consistent. However, each integration is different, and may require varying levels and types of authentication. This article provides instructions for configuring and collecting all the information you need in order to add the Looker integration in BetterCloud.
BetterCloud requires the following for integrating with Looker regardless of SKU:
- API3 Key
- Base URL
When adding the Looker integration you must enter Client Secret and Client ID as API3 Key credentials.
To generate an your credentials, please take the following steps within your Looker account:
Select "Admin" on the top menu bar and select "Users" from the drop down.
For the user that will be the account admin, select "Edit" under the "Actions" column.
Click on "Edit Keys" button by the API3 Keys field.
Copy your "Client ID" and "Client Secret".
Select "Admin" on the top menu bar and select "Settings" from the drop down.
Copy the resource name of URL (everything after the forward slash) from the "Host URL" field.
Note: If your Looker instance was initiated before 07/07/2020, your resource name might include a port number. Follow this link to find your port number.
In BetterCloud, click on the "Install" button to install Looker.
In the modal,
- Enter a "Name" for your Looker Integration
- Enter the Client ID from Looker
- Enter your Base URL from Looker
- Enter your Client Secret from Looker
Click Install on the button on the bottom of the modal.
