When integrating a new application with your BetterCloud instance, the overall installation process is consistent. However, each integration is different, and may require varying levels and types of authentication. This article provides instructions for configuring and collecting all the information you need in order to add the Spanning integration in BetterCloud.
BetterCloud requires the following authentication type when integrating with Spanning:
- Basic HTTP Authentication (Domain Name and API Key)
You will also need to enter the following additional headers in order to successfully connect:
*Please note: In order to create a valid API token, you must use a Google Super Admin or Spanning Super Admin account.
The following screenshot provides an overview of the information you will need to enter in order to successfully integrate with Spanning. More information on these fields is provided below.
Username and Password
Based on how Spanning performs basic authentication, the Username and Password fields require you to enter the following:
Username: Domain Name
Password: API Key
In order to add the Spanning integration you will need to enter a valid API key, or API token. To create a Spanning API token please carry out the following steps:
Click on “Settings” in the left menu.
Scroll down to the API Token section and click “Generate API Token.”
Be sure to copy the token that you have created, and enter it in the spanningApiKey field in the integration’s configuration. Be sure to copy it as soon as you create it, because it will not be visible again.
Under the spanningAdminEmail field, enter the email address of the account that you used to create your API key.
Your domain name is available in the top right corner of your screen after logging into Spanning.
Make sure you have not selected a specific user from the dropdown, and just have the domain selected.
Once you have successfully added the integration, your API key, domain name, and admin email can be updated from your integration’s configuration at any time.
